Description
This lecture will look at how the European Union seeks to broker peace in the region and tries to balance this with upholding respect for international law and human rights. Dr Khaliq will argue that the Union's approach has a number of shortcomings and that the balance currently being struck needs to be reassessed so as to reflect more realistically events on the ground. Dr Khaliq is the author of “Ethical Dimensions of the Foreign Policy of the European Union: A Legal Appraisal”, published by Cambridge University Press, 2008.
