A one-day conference at the Institute of Musical Research in association with the RMA and CHOMBEC

Registration is now open for this one-day conference.

 

The conference will explore relationships between music, the arts and the politics of national identity in twentieth-century Britain. Is it possible to evoke notions or concepts of national identity in music? Did the twentieth century present specific problems for musicians,authors, artists or other people involved in the arts? In what ways did the politicaland military conflicts of the twentieth century have an impact upon the ideologies and aesthetics of art?
