Professor John McLeod (University of Leeds): 'Writing England in Caryl Phillips's Recent Fiction'

Professor McLeod will be speaking on Caryl Phillips's representation of England since 2000, taking in his representation of the English North, and his articulation of England as a polycultural conduit which is yet to realise its possibilities for a post-racial or post-prejudicial future.  The talk will range across Phillips's more recent fiction, A Distant Shore (2003), Foreigners (2007), and In the Falling Snow (2009).  Chair: Dr Lucienne Loh (Liverpool)
