Forging Early Printed Books: Nicolas Barker OBE

Nicolas Barker is editor of The Book Collector. From his beginnings in publishing and through a long and distinguished career in the rare book world, he has been at various times both Deputy Keeper of Books and the first Head of Conservation at the British Library, President of the Bibliographical Society, and giver of both the Panizzi and the Rosenbach Lectures. He is the author of numerous works across the field, including Stanley Morison (1972), Bibliotheca Lindesiana (1977), and Aldus Manutius and the Development of Greek Script and Type in the 15th Century (2nd edn 1992). He is also the editor of recent editions of John Carter’s classic ABC for Book Collectors.
