The aim of the Textual Scholarship Seminar is to offer a forum for discussion of editorial theory and practice, textual criticism and historical bibliography, and cognate subjects such ‘critique génétique’ and the study of modern manuscripts, writer’s libraries, and the sociology of the text (in the tradition of D.F. McKenzie) across periods and disciplines. The Seminar was inaugurated in November 2009 with a study day to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the publication of the Critical and Synoptic Edition of Ulysses, edited by Professor Hans Walter Gabler. Organizer: Dr Wim Van Mierlo, Lecturer in Textual Scholarship and English Literature (Institute of English Studies). |
